A period of time that is idyllically happy and peaceful.
We are a group of highly educated and trained medical, business and eldercare professionals, with busy, stressful lives who came together because we had been caregivers for our loved ones. We saw a need for something better in Austin. We needed quality people to help us, and we couldn’t find them through any agency, we had to go hand-pick them ourselves. Whether it’s shopping or errand-running for an executive, cooking for or bathing a loved one, home management, or providing medical advocates for any illness, we assure you we bring a level of service you have never experienced before.
Halcyon Home was created to bring the most exceptional care to your home and your loved ones. Halcyon was the Greek god who calmed the seas in order to allow the mystical beautiful kingfisher bird to lay its eggs, and that time of year was referred to as the halcyon time of year. We hope to create a peaceful, idyllic setting for you even in the hardest or most stressful of times, in order to allow you to enjoy your life to its fullest.
▣ Amy Sweet, MHS, PA-C – CEO
I am a licensed physician assistant who started my medical career as a home health aide in Massachusetts, on Nantucket Island. I graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a B.S. degree in Nutrition Science and Pre-Med. I worked as restaurant manager for a small, exclusive resort in Napa Valley before going back to school for a master’s degree and my physician assistant degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. I practiced gynecologic oncology first at Texas Oncology at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas, and then with Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Austin, Texas. I became passionate about palliative care and hospice services and utilized them frequently with patients when needed during this time.
I saw how I could improve a patient’s quality of life through better communication, focusing on the patient’s symptoms and desires, and how important a quality team/community was to help a patient enjoy life to the fullest every day. I am inspired daily by our hospice services, and how we impact lives so significantly in such a short time relative to a lifetime. I believe each patient becomes an extension of our lives, our work family, and we treat each person as if they were part of our family. I strive to lead our team in quality clinical care, excellent customer service, and in continued awe of what a special role we play in the lives of those we serve.
I have experience with alternative and functional medicine, and believe in the fusion of multiple therapeutic and spiritual modalities to treat a person completely. I love nature, horseback riding, hiking, healthy delicious food, and traveling. I am a past-president of the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society, a former member of the Austin Junior League and Dallas Junior League. I am married to Scott, the best husband I could ever dream of having, and have three children, Nick, Siena and Rowan.

Haley Hughes Trevino – Hospice Leadership
Hayley is a native Texan, residing in Austin since 2002 after leaving her hometown of Longview to attend the University of Texas. Hayley obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 2006 and set out to pursue a career in the non-clinical sector of healthcare. Her earlier focus on patient advocacy and non-profit work eventually led to the field of Hospice and Palliative Care, where her true passion lies. To better serve this field and a lifelong goal to change the conversation about death and dying, Hayley pursued and completed her Masters in Business Administration which she obtained in 2015. Hayley implements her belief that every human deserves a dignified and supported end of life experience in her every day work with Halcyon. She strives to educate the community on the availability of end of life care and education, believing fully that this knowledge can empower the public to make better decisions about the care for themselves and loved ones.
Ann Elizabeth Kay – Marketing Representative
I graduated with a BBA in Marketing from the University of Mississippi. I enjoy great food, watercolor painting, playing with my dog Val, and am a tv show/movie enthusiast. I love working for Halcyon because my co-workers are all wonderful people, who are great at what they do, and because my passion in life is helping people. I experienced a rare illness at age 22, and was blessed to have exceptional medical care. I try to pass on what was so freely given to me. I get to spend time with members of our greatest generation, and learn something meaningful every day. It is my pleasure to work for Halcyon Home.
